I carry a place in my heart that I have never seen. That’s the reason why I painted „Roots“. Even though I have never been to Iran, it has always been part of my life through my family, our traditions, and the stories I grew up with. To express this connection, I included different symbols of the Persian culture in this artwork. In Iran, the pomegranate is way more than just a fruit. For thousands of years, it has been an important symbol in Persian culture. Its red seeds represent life, abundance and the rebirth of the sun after winter. The pomegranate appears throughout Persian cuisine, art, mythology and many different traditions. Every spring tulips bloom in Iran. Over time, they have become a symbol of those who sacrificed their lives for freedom. Tulips represent remembrance, hope and resilience. The Persian carpet represents years of tradition. Every Persian carpet is a unique piece of art, with its own patterns, colors and stories passed down through generations. I have also included a part of a belly dance scarf in this artwork. The scarf represents self-expression. It reminds us of the power of movement and creativity. Together these symbols represent the culture, history and identity of my homeland that I haven’t experienced yet.
